Bankstown Sports Club was founded in 1958 by a group of sport representatives who wanted to create a communal meeting place for the various sports in the local community.
Over the years, it has grown and developed into one of the largest clubs in NSW, and now supports more than 40 local sporting clubs and over 6000 individuals who participate in sport, as well as hundreds of local charities and community groups.
With more than 65,000 members, Bankstown Sports Club is one of Sydney’s top 10 registered clubs, employing over 500 staff and offering a fun, exciting and safe entertainment destination in the southwest.
Some of the main features of Bankstown Sports Club include a movie theatre, live shows, weekly entertainment, a wide variety of restaurants and bars including Basement Brewhouse, and Monkey Mania play centre. We also have several associated venues: Bankstown Sports Bowls, Birrong Sports, Baulkham Hills Sports Club and The Acres Club.
Bankstown Sports is also a member of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), which is the nation's authority on sustainable buildings, communities and cities. Their vision is to create healthy, resilient and positive places for people and the natural environment.
Construction is also underway for the new Flinders Centre on Restwell Street which will be Bankstown’s newest business hub. We will be working with GBCA to gain a Green Star award for this building upon completion.
